it takes a village

Have you ever wondered what it actually takes to raise kids in a way that they have the best chance of becoming kind, caring, and mature adults? An even bigger question to ask is: what does it take to truly teach kids the power of faith or the belief in God’s purpose for their life?

Last week I had a major AHHAA moment about this. I realized that it takes more than one really cool sermon at church. It even takes more than two great parents. I think it actually takes a village!

By village, I mean a group of well-intentioned people who can help fill in gaps that exist in every form of parenting. For me, even though my parents did a great job, I also had grandparents, pastors, and friends who helped shape me into the person I am today. Growing up, people would compliment my parents on everything they did right with my siblings and me and would be impressed. But what they didn’t know was that my parents could not possibly take all the credit.

We were actually exposed to so many people and resources outside the home that if I were to give credit where it was due, this email would go on for many pages. But don’t worry… I won’t keep you that long (wink).

After I had this realization last week, I was also forced to think about the parents and children who may not have a village. I found myself asking: who/what else can fill in the gaps? And then it came to me…

Books! There are so many books I remember being read as a child that had a great impact on my faith, imagination, and even writing style.

With this in mind, I am proud to announce we are getting closer to the release date of our first two children’s books! We are currently finishing the illustration and formatting process for The Boy With No Name and You Belong- two books that I believe will capture hearts and spark faith in young readers.

So… be on the lookout for these upcoming title releases. We can’t wait to share these stories with you and be a part of your village.
